Boiling Eggs

I bought a dozen eggs yesterday.  Well, actually, I bought 4 dozen because Walgreens has them this week for 69 cents a dozen and they let me buy 4 dozen.  They aren't organic, or cage free, which I usually buy, but for 69 cents I just couldn't pass it up.  Today I boiled a dozen.  That's right...I bought them yesterday and boiled them today.  Everyone knows fresh eggs don't peel well so I rarely ever do that.  But just look at these!


Every single one of them peeled perfectly.  Every.  Single.  One.  How did I do it?  Here's how:

You'll  need an electric pressure cooker, one cup of water, and the eggs you want to boil.  Put the water in the pressure cooker.  Put a rack in the bottom and the eggs on the rack.  Pressure on fish/vegetables/steam for six minutes.  That's it.  I will never boil eggs again!

These will become deviled eggs later today.....who knew I could get so excited over boiling eggs!

WOW! I've been looking at pressure cookers - think they call them Instant Pots now. I really should have bought that one on Amazon Prime day. I may go shopping... ~Jeanne

My dad teached me how to peel the eggs easilly. You simply need to put them into cold water right after you boiled them for 2-3 minutes :) Maybe you can try this one day!

I've never tried 'boiling' them like that! I do them in the oven sometimes, and if I boil them, I always add vinegar to the water. That usually works. But I've never had ALL of them peel so easy. Thanks for the tip!

Good to know. I have two old style pressure cookers and they scare the hell out of me. Always wanted an electric so now I have a good excuse to purchase one. I usually run hot water over the cold shell from the fridge and don't have a problem. But I want a pressure cooker!

My favorite way to make hard boiled eggs! And if you peel them while they are still warm.......perfection every time! LOVE my pressure cooker!

I don't have a pressure cooker so this wouldn't work for me. I always struggle with peeling the eggs, unfortunately! How do you make your deviled eggs, Marlene?

I see someone has already mentioned the ice water method...I just drain the boiling water off and run the tap water in the pan until it overflows then add some ice from the fridge. Let them sit in that for about 5 minutes and then the shell comes off fairly easily....
I just wonder what you're going to do with 4 dozen eggs all at one time. Are you going to freeze some...you can if you break them like you would to make scrambled eggs.

I think fresh means right from under the chicken! HA I know my niece has chickens and you absolutely cannot peel them nicely once boiled. They look horrible. I've been meaning to try baking them as I've seen that many places on the 'net. Have an elec. pressure cooker but it has yet to make it out of the box. :-(

I have never heard of an electric pressure cooker but I have an old one. I wonder if it would work. Then, again, by the time I dig it out and find a rack that fits I can just boil them in water and run cold water over them when done.
Of course. no one but me will see my eggs anyway.

I cannot wait to try this! My eggs come straight from the coop and they are a bear to peel. I've tried everything. We love hard boiled eggs so I'm looking for a rack to fit my pressure cooker and I'll be peeling hard boiled eggs with ease! Thank you!
