Honeybees are a good thing. Although it is annoying when they are drinking from the feeders. We have very few of them here. Wasps and ants usually take over my feeders.
YIKES!!!!!!!!! You should see the giant mess of bees we had last year on the side of our house. It was so scarey. We had to hire someone to come and get them!! And quick!!
I heard that if you move your feeder that the bees aren't very smart and think the source is gone. And make sure the feeder is in a shady location, bees prefer the sun. The other commenters are right, that's not a very pretty sight.
Hi Marlene, that's so sweet of you to feed all of them... Hope they don't get you. I always thank on Sunday we should always make sure and be thankful for what we have and I know these bees were. Hugs, Bonnie
Wow, they look like big bees. We have one wild hive and one hive box in our yard. Sometimes John feeds the box hive sugar water...I bet that they love your hummingbird feeder.
Wow, I've never seen bees bother a feeder like that before! Hope you find a solution soon, before someone gets stung. You have a beautiful yard. What a delight that must be.
Those honeybees are probably starving. We have had the same situation here several times. We take a pie tin and crumple up some paper towels in it and then pour hummingbird food over it. It helps the bees out, as there are probably not enough flowers for them. Weird, tho, ours usually come in late spring, early summer. Much love, Raquel XO
So sorry about the bees. For some reason I did not put out my feeder this year, but planted some Verbena in my porch box and was rewarded with the hummingbirds coming on my porch to get at the red flowers. I just added myself as a follower to your blog because it is so nice and peaceful.
The bees are in such trouble these days with diseases and hte problem of bees leaving for no known reason that it is good to see that you actually HAVE honeybees visiting you. Perhaps we can all spare a little sugar water for the bees? We need them to do their good work, and if we can do something to help them stay around I'm all for it.
