Thanksgiving Night

The feasting is over.
The visitors have gone.
The house is quiet
And I'm all alone.

There are dishes to wash
And the laundry awaits;
The floors need sweeping
And my library books are late.

There are crumbs on the couch
And leftovers to freeze.
But my throat's all scratchy
And I think I'm gonna' sneeze.

There are ads in the paper
That I need to search through,
There are bathrooms to clean,
So darn much to do!

The pumpkins are still scattered
All around my house.
So are the scarecrows
And the witches' house.

But my body is tired
and my bones are in pain.
And my beautiful bed
It's calling my name.

  5. Ditto to all that. Exhaustion, but a nice day. The chores can wait. I'm taking today off---curling up with a new book, maybe a little snoozing on the couch, a little desultory hand stitching.......L-A-Z-Y!

  7. Enjoy some rest.

My Mom had a saying we would hear whenever she was tired,
    Bed Bed beautiful Bed
Some place to lie my big fat head

Ah...nothing like our own comfy, beautiful bed.

    Hope you're feeling refreshed today,
    Joy

  9. Thankfully my children were over on Wed. night and the girls did the cleanup. Yesterday was at my brothers all day - I cooked - his daughter cleaned. Today has been grandson all day and granddaughter tonight. No rest yet for the weary. But lots of joy and fun!!!

  14. My thoughts exactly! It was a good day but I was ready for the quiet - and my bed - when nighttime came. If you get a minute please stop by to see what kind of day we had at our house. We're laughing about it - now! ~Adrienne~
