I want to can soup today. Have you ever done that? And if you have how in the world do you do it? :) I've cooked my meat but if I'm reading the recipe right you don't really cook the soup, you just get it hot and put it in the hot jars. Is that how you do it? And right about now you're probably asking yourself why in the world does she want to do that - has she lost her mind? It's like this...we have deer meat left in the freezer from last fall's hunt. It's almost fall again. I need to get that meat out of the freezer to make way for this year's hunt but there's too much of it to eat. So I'm thinking I'll can soup, chili, and spaghetti sauce. But I've never done it before and don't remember what mother did.
Or maybe I should just can the meat with some beef broth on it...what would you do?
Which brings me to another matter. There are a lot of things I've never done before and that I really should try...or not.
I've never cut my own hair. My beautician is retiring - I think I told you that and that my daughters and I are all running in circles in a dead panic over what to do. Unlike my daughters I no longer color my hair (sorry girls if your friends didn't know that you color it 'cause now the world knows). I'm thinking maybe I could just cut my own. What do you think?
I've also never taken every stitch of clothes out of my closet, gotten rid of them, and started over. Some days I'd like to do that. Wouldn't that be fun? I'd have all new clothes to wear to the hospital to visit my husband after he had a heart attack over me buying a new wardrobe.
And I've never just flat out told my neighbor off for letting her dogs run wild in the neighborhood threatening anyone who walks past her house and even biting one or two. I have this overwhelming drive to be nice. You know the way God tells us to be? But couldn't He just cut me some slack on this one thing this one time? I need permission to be ugly one time - do you know of a verse in the Bible that will give me permission for that? Because I definitely think I need permission before I do it.
I've never stood up in the middle of a sermon before and yelled, "Amen!" I've wanted to on occasion. But I'm afraid someone in the congregation might have a heart attack. We have a lot of old people in my church. But not me, I'm not old. Going on 63 is not old. My goodness I won't be old til at least 93. Maybe one Sunday when it's particularly inspiring I might do that.
I've never bungee jumped either. And I definitely won't do that. But I did get the funniest audio about bungee jumping I ever heard yesterday and I'd love for you to hear it except I don't know how to attach the file. I laughed so hard I cried. I promise you would laugh out loud! So if you'd like to hear it let me know and I'll forward it to you - I do know how to do that! Or tell me how to insert it in here and I'll add it here. I got it as an attachment in an e-mail.
I've never driven on the left side of the road. That's because I've never been to Europe. And since it's not likely I'll ever get to go I'm considering just trying it here. I could just go driving merrily along forcing people to move over to their left and maybe we'd all end up driving that way. Or not. Of course if I did that someone would probably take my license away and then where would I be? I'd be forced to ride my 3 wheel bike everywhere. Probably not a good idea.

You've got quite the bucket list there - did you ever see that movie? I've never even thought of taking all the clothes out of my closet and starting over but I LOVE the idea. And it sure gave me a good laugh. But I definitely want to lose some weight before I do that. Shall we make plans together about new wardrobes???
Too cute.
I think I would just can the meat if I were doing the soup. The vegetables would be much fresher that way (I would think).
I'd hate to try to cut my own hair. I'd need a mirror and everything would then be backwards. I don't function well backwards.
I've only completely cleared my closets when moving or when under construction, but never thrown it all away.
I WOULD tell the neighbor about her dogs. What if they caused serious injury to someone and you could have prevented it?
I've never stood up in church to shout "Amen" and never, ever bungee jumped. Never will! I have driven on the left side as we lived in England for awhile.
And, lastly, 63 is YOUNG!!!!! I hope we make it to 93.
You have quite the list. My list looks a bit different than yours - I have places to go and people to see and things to try but not what you have. I haven't done most of what you have on your list so maybe I should add them! Keep us posted. Should we pray for your hubby when he has the heart attack after you buy all new clothes?

Good list, Marlene. Hubby & I have a bucket list for the two of us. Mostly places we want to visit. We are slowly checking them off. My bucket list will never have bungee jumping on it but I do cut my own hair. It took some practice and sometimes it turns out better than other times. A definite "never in a million years" item for me is parachute jumping. No way, no how, never, no siree.
Sorry, I didn't get to reply to this sooner, since, by now you've already made your decision. I have canned soup and I love to do it because then I can open a jar in the winter when I'm rushed and don't want to cook something that takes longer. I also add meat. I mix everything together and heat it long enough to cook the veggies unless I do that ahead of time.
I have cut my own hair. I did go to cosmetology school in another life. I also cut my husband's hair and one of my grandson's. I could cut mine if I had, too. I do cut my bangs because they grow so fast and I don't want to go to the hair stylist for that in between times.
I've never cleared my closet and started over though I know people who do that each year in the Spring and Fall. I think, even if you can afford it, its wasteful. I usually buy classics so I can wear them for years unless I outgrow them.
Let us know what you decide.

Lots to think about here... lots I've never done either. Your list made me laugh, I'd like to muster up the courage to try a few of your choices but definitely would not bungee jump!
You made me laugh out loud today - I love the saying Amen and the driving on the left hand side of the road. Thanks for the giggle!
Marlene you crack me up and boy did I need that. Except I'm sore when I laugh. So glad you liked the PIF, I remembered your colors from a conversation we had had.
Now that is a good idea about the meat in the freezer. I just don't can well. I did a whole bunch of string beans and DH and I were sitting in the living room watching TV and all of a sudden we heard POW, didn't know where it came from. A little bit later we heard POW. Needless to say my beans didn't last.

This gave me a good laugh and I needed that, thank you.
I have no idea about canning meat or soup, but I'm sure it's good to have near hand when needed.
Please, just phone the police about your neighbor dogs, they are clearly dangerous and should not be allowed to roam free, with age they get worse, not better. (Protecting what THEY consider their home turf)
And I'd love to hear the bungee jumping audio.
Oh my goodness!!! This post has me in stitches...laughing so hard.
You are a crack up Mrs. Marlene!
I wish that I could help you with the canning but all I ever do is water bath canning and I know you have to do pressure canning for meats. Good luck with it.
Have a great day. Love, Lura
