I Meant To Do My Work Today

I meant to do my work today,
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.

And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand--
So what could I do but laugh and go?

  5. How true. Work will always be there when there aren't such wonderful distractions. We all need reminded.

  10. Oh, thank you! Thank you for this poem! I ran across it for the first time nearly a year ago and then lost track of where I thought I'd saved it . . . so I was glad to see it here!
Thanks again! I really enjoy your blog.
