Cornucopia

I finished another table runner - and if I do say so myself my machine quilting is getting better.  I'm  no expert but I can at least see improvement!

We've had a regular visitor the last few mornings.  Can you see him?  And yes I know my swing is turned backwards and the chairs aren't straight....they just got a new coat of stain and, well, they need "arranging".  But it seems the swing needs a couple of bolts so I'm waiting for that before I put things back together.  It's time to add some mums out there too!
He's way down on the corner of the dock keeping watch over the lake.  Can you see the mist rising off the water?  When the mornings are cool it does that...or late in the evenings when it's hot and up at the dam they open a gate so that the really cold water off the bottom of the big lake comes down our way.  It's another of those physics things, which I don't understand, but that's okay, I can still enjoy the beauty of it.
I know, not easy to see.  I'm not sure what he is - some kind of crane maybe.  I've named him Harold.  Not that he knows or cares but I just thought if he was going to hang around I needed something to call him.  :)

  1. It is a little hard to see him, but surely a crane. We got a few mums from a local grower who lost so much - we just need to suppost those few businesses left in our area.

  6. Keith wants to know if there is any property left on your lake. Keep your fingers crossed that with Kat at university I might have time to make a fall tablerunner - AFTER I finish Patty's 3 yr old wall hanging. That means the table runner will be for fall 2012.

  8. Hello, I came over from Osage Bluff Quilter. I noticed we like many of the same movies. One of my favories is "While You Were Sleeping" with Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman. Very sweet and happy ending.

  13. Hi Marlene!

Your table runner is really pretty. I've finally been able to do a little sewing myself.

Harold is a Great Blue Heron; very pretty birds and huge!

  14. I'll go with the Great Blue Heron. Haven't seen those in some time but we have lots of Egrets (three sizes of white) and a smaller Grey Heron here in the Tokyo area.
The runner is lovely. You sure know how to make that machine work!

  19. Your quilter runner is beautiful. Love those colors.

I, too, love to see mist rising from the water. "Harold" is a good name for a crane. :)

  20. I believe Harold is an egret- at least the last time I asked about one looking similar that's what Dad said - and he's never wrong, right? ♥
