B is for Buxom. Ha! Bet you never thought you'd see that written here! I'm not showing any pictures though. :) Inherited that gene from my Grandma Light...darn it. She was tall and "buxom" with an emphasis on the latter. When I was a little girl, and remember I'm 65 now, I remember when she came to visit and watching her iron her bras. Yes, iron them. They were 100% cotton and quite thick, quite large and quite wrinkled after being hung on the line to dry so she had to iron them. I remember they had hooks like this:
How uncomfortable they must have been!
How funny.....that was one neat Grandma!!
ReplyDeleteMother use to let me iron the pillowcases. A task I dropped/ha
But then ours had beautiful crochet or embroidery on them and ironing made them so pretty.
I inherited that genetic feature from my mother's side of the family too. I could have been happy with a whoel LOT LESS! My mother used to wear the long line braziers...(now we don't hear that word often, do we?) Over the shoulder boulder holders, and Bette Midler sang a song about braziers invented by Otto Tisling. Here, in case you've never heard the song,or you want to enjoy it again, go here!

Buxom is the perfect B word.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger I would have loved to be Buxom, now I am older I am glad that I am not. I can remember my grandmother's corsets. They must have been soooo uncomfortable! xxoo
ReplyDeleteHilarious. I don't know I'd I would have ironed my bra. But then i am not buxom.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you my friend!! My friends know it is a let loose kind of night when I 'bring the girls out'! LOL (not all the way well you know!!) hehe
ReplyDeleteI inherited the opposite gene! My daughter, on the other hand, got her genes from my mother-in-law - she can't blame it on me! Isn't it something - we're never happy with what we were "given"! lol I don't recall anyone ironing their bras - but my mom ironed my dad's boxer shorts!! No joke!!
ReplyDeleteB is also for Busty which is something I inherited from Mom and grandma size of my family. I too remember seeing cotton bras being ironed.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I don't want to iron amything not quilt related.
