Don't let the difficulties of the present moments overshadow the reality of God's promises. God's promises still stand. And God's promises are stronger than our failures.

Another Girls Weekend

One of the greatest gifts God can give us is girlfriends.  Can I get an Amen?  No matter our age, no matter our circumstances....girlfriends are the glue that holds our lives together.  Oh yes, I know family does that too.  But for women it seems to me that girlfriends are the icing on the cake.  Cake is good by itself, but with icing cake is just so much more!

I have all kinds of girlfriends.  Friends I go to church with, friends in my neighborhood, friends I stitch with, friends I work with.  But in the end, old girlfriends are just a special breed.  Once a year several of my elementary/junior high/senior high girlfriends come to my house for a weekend.  Those of you who've been reading my blog for several years have seen them before.  These women are so special to me.

Do you still see old girlfriends?  If you don't I highly recommend you look them up, get together, have coffee or a coke and do some reminiscing and laughing and even crying.  It's good for your soul.

Oh, how I wish I had several old friends to get together with!! I have one old girlfriend that I often do things with, and one that is so far away that we never see each other. We just have to do the email thing. You are blessed to have so many to share the fun with!!

I agree. It is so nice to be able to get together with an old school friend. My school friend since grade eight lives in Ontario so it is so nice when she comes come and we get a chance to have a visit. I think we have stayed such good friends because we always exchange gifts at Christmas and that does keep us in contact. It also helps that our mothers are best friends also. They call each other everyday first thing in the morning and before they go to bed. What friend ship. I am blessed with so many friends which makes life such a joy.

Am so excited because we haven't seen each other in 8 years.
I also renewed friendship with another nurse about 7 yrs ago and she is planning reunion and planned it in Stratford so I could come so it will be exciting. Old friends are so dear. Blessings Sandra

I never kept up with anybody from school. Guess I just wasn't that close with any of them. Peeps to hang with while in school but not after. Glad I have my church friends and bunco broads but not anyone I could call my best friend.

What a great thing you do! How fun. I would love to be a fly on the wall and listen to all the giggling and laughter.
I'll bet there wasn't much sleep going on.
And I'll bet the years melted away!

I have an old (as in years we have known each other plus where we are in life) that is in Texas and we have been friends since we were 4. We are now 75, Don't see her too often but we stay in touch and I really miss her. Your picture looks great - fun.

Facebook has been very surprisingly great for reconnecting with old friends. I went to a huge high school, and overall I would say I just wished people would grow up. And wouldn't you know, they did! It's been a blessing to see what really decent human beings they grew up to be. :-)

I am part of a group of 4 who have known each other for over 35 years. We don't go back as far as school but far enough to have gone through most of the "real life" events together. You know the type of things a couple of divorces, a couple of marriages, a couple of kids, shared issues of our parents aging and passing as well as the fun stuff of shared friendships like dinners out once a quarter with just the girls and the annual pool party and Christmas party where we let our guys join us.
