Don't let the difficulties of the present moments overshadow the reality of God's promises. God's promises still stand. And God's promises are stronger than our failures.

I Haven't....

watched this much television in years!  I'm sure you're tired of hearing by now that I'm down with a bad case of sciatica because it's been a month this has been going on but to be honest I'm discovering all kinds of things about myself.  One of them is that there's a reason I don't watch much television.  Particularly daytime television.  Good grief this stuff is so bad that I watch 5 minutes and turn it off.  Game shows are yucky; there's just no other way to say that.  I don't mean to say anything ugly about people who like game shows - this is just about me.  And I won't even watch 5 minutes of soaps because the small bits of those I see are getting close to porn (just my opinion).  Now here's the real confession part of this...I love NCIS, Bones and Castle.  I record those and watch them while I stitch.  But I find I'd rather listen to a book while I'm having to rest my back.

I don't do well being limited in my activities.  I get whiny.  There I said it.  Whiny.  Is that a word?  Doesn't matter because I bet you know what I mean.

A positive thing in this episode is that I'm getting some hand stitching projects done - some of them have been waiting a while.  And I can sit at the sewing machine for a little while as long as I get up and move around.  In fact that seems to be the most comfortable time for me...isn't that a blessing!  Here are a couple of things I've finished this week:

I made this little mug rug for my best friend (Hi Connie) who has a monkey of her own named Katie.  It's going to be perfect to sit a cup of coffee on, or a glass of milk and a cookie.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I was making something my blogging friend Michelle from The Raspberry Rabbits was going to like.  Isn't this the cutest thing?  It's from Primitive Quilts and Projects Magazine, Spring 2012, and the pattern (Wabbits) is by Lynda Hall of Primitive Pieces by Lynda.

Lynda's two granddaughters drew the rabbits and Lynda turned their drawings into a pattern - I so love that idea that I'm going to try it with my younger grandchildren.

One of the things I'm doing while sitting is following the She Who Sews Blog Hop set up by Madame Samm  of Sew We Quilt and coordinated by Carla of Creatin' In The Sticks - I loved participating in this one and seeing all the other projects and there's one more day coming up tomorrow.

Ha, whiny is certainly a word. :-) I see it in the mirror too often. It has to be therapeutic to be getting some work done. Such fun projects, and I love the big, beautiful pictures!

Cute projects!

I agree that it is difficult to find worthwhile TV shows. One that I have discovered recently, though, also has all its episodes available free online. It's called Studio C, and is clean sketch comedy. If you need a laugh, I'd suggest watching it!

So glad you are able to see something good (no matter how small) coming from your down time. The little monkey mug run is adorable, especially his crooked little smile. Hope you continue quickly on your road to recovery.

I don't watch TV either and thinking of giving up cable all together. An audio book is way more interesting - or some soothing music. Glad you are getting a little handwork and sewing time in. Wabbits is so cute!

You named three of my favorite shows. It is difficult to find good tv. I enjoy history.

Great projects and it's good that you can do these while you're allowing your back to heal.

I so agree with you about TV regular shows but I do love national geographic channel and discovery channel. You might try them. Also the we channel is great with old shows . Try we... I think those old shows were the best. I love all of your stitching projects. You are in my prayers. Hugs, Lura

I am not good at watching TV either. Thank heaven for Netflix and streaming when I can't sew. Oh and I slipped on the ice Monday morning going into a store. While I worked it was fine, but by the time it was over I could barely walk. After 3 days of Motrin, Ice, heat, and some rub that the hubby swears by called Unkers I can actually lift my foot to take a step. I am feeling much better today, but I sew can not even imagine doing this for over a month. Love the monkey very cute.

You have been busy. Love NCIS and Bones. Not much else on. I just cut out Wabbits. I like how you made it into a pillow.

We all get whiny when we can't do what we love I know I do. Both of your projects are adorable. The only thing I like on daytime tv is Good Morning America and I enjoy all of the same evening ones as you. I shudder at what we pay just to watch half dozen programs . Blessings Sandra

You deserve to be whiny with your sciatica still keeping you down. Love the monkey mug mat. And those Wabbits are so elementary cute! I am loving the "She Who Sews" hop and the Door Stop is fun also. Healing Energy...
