Could I make a heart shaped one? Why not! But even though I love the look of it it doesn't seem very practical. So what about the middle image of stars all scattered on the white background, then with a border like the last image? Wonder how many stars that would take....and oh, my, what a lot to applique.
Pearla Piera of p3 designs has a beautiful patriotic one if u like to applique
ReplyDeleteYou could always do pieced stars, and randomly alternate them with plain blocks to get that scattered look. Little paper pieced stars would be sweet! :0)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you come up with. Usually when I have that kind of inspiration I can't wait to find the prefect design to make the quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou could do a quilt with heart shape flags on it. Maybe stitch flags and cut a heart shape from it to do the applique with.
ReplyDeleteThat star one would be beautiful but really would be a lot of appliqué. I can't wait to see what you decide. I'm sure it will be amazing! :0)
ReplyDeletewww.merrymayhem.com has a free "We Salute YOu" patriotic mystery quilt on her page. It is an all sew day on July 19 and a new clue every hour. Carol
ReplyDeleteI am sure whatever you create will be beautiful. Can't wait to see it. :)
ReplyDeleteI have made several quilts in red, white, and blue but they were not "patriotic". Someone has gifted me some patriotic fabric that I have yet to use. That mystery quilt sounds like fun ... or maybe a felt piece with applique.
ReplyDeleteI'll wait and see what you decide to do . . . I've had a patriotic, stars & stripes type quilt on my list, too! :)
ReplyDeleteto waving in red white and blue....whatever you choose it will be inspiring...heading back home in a few hours...
