For the reunion last weekend my husband cooked a pot of Gumbo. He's the best gumbo cooker that ever was...and that's the truth. And this was the best pot of gumbo he's ever made! He learned to cook it from his mother and I have absolutely no idea what he does but his whole family and my whole family and all our friends who've had it love it. It took 2 days but they ate the whole thing!
Recipe,,,,,please?? Or is it a secret family one!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for a good recipe for this weekend to go with our crawfish boil!!! Don't want to go to the store again though, maybe next time!
It looks wonderful!
Okay I'll take any leftovers of the gumbo you have!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCould he pass that recipe alone to us out here in bloggville.....my grandmother used to make gumbo in the back yard with a very large cast iron pot and an open fire....yummmmm!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy
Oh, me too, me too!! I made gumbo once years ago. Good but not great. I DO make a mean Jambalaya. And out here in the west, we all have our favorite version of Ciappino, a sort of fisherman's stew with our fabulous west coast Dungeness crab. If Hubby is willing to share, I'd love his gumbo recipe.
ReplyDeleteI've never had gumbo, but that sure looks good! Looks like the perfect meal for a big crowd!
ReplyDeleteI would love to taste of that! Looks great! Takes 2 days? Oh well, I am up for it!
ReplyDeleteWe love Gumbo!! It brings back such memories. When I married my dear husband I have never even heard of it. My Father in law made it and I was skeptical....one bite and I was a fan!! He has gone on to be with the Lord and I still think of him each time I here someone mention Gumbo.
ReplyDeleteGumbo is usually one of our favorite at any family gathering. You sure he isn't from Cajun Country. Looks good.
ReplyDeleteOh my that looks great Marlene!! Todd's idea of cooking soup is opening a tin!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect way to feed a mob of people. Looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love soup and this one looks really yummy!
ReplyDeleteOh it looks good! But guess who is allergic to shrimp! Bummer.....I think I would really like this. Can you make gumbo without shellfish?
ReplyDeleteYUM!
