My Sister, The Beekeeper

Apparently bees "swarm" in the spring and have to be taken to a new home.

To do that you have to suit up.

And be totally crazy.

  3. My grandpa kept bees and the honey was oh so good, As bees go, they are pretty calm while swarming but if your brother kicks the hive while you are passing ... look out!

  4. We once had a swarm in our tree. The buzzing was so loud we could hear it from pretty far away. It's all so amazing, isn't it?

  8. Hi Sweetie...
OMG you have one brave sister. I would be absolutely horrified. I do not like bees, and have horrible reactions to the stings.

Do you get wonderful honey out of the bargain, or does she at least?

Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  10. I've considered it because I'm fascinated rather than scared of bees. My grandfather was a beekeepeer and a good friend we go to church with keeps bees. He is very well known around here and does lots of educational programs at local schools. You don't see many women beekeepers. How long has she done this??

  11. Wow! Your sister is a brave woman. But they say _ as long as you know how to handle them that all will be fine. I'm allergic to some bees but I love honey!
