Don't let the difficulties of the present moments overshadow the reality of God's promises. God's promises still stand. And God's promises are stronger than our failures.

I Bought New Jeans

When I was at my sister's a few weeks ago we went shopping. Because we always go shopping when we're together but rarely without each other. I know you think it's because we're such good friends and that's part of it. But really it's because if she gets something I want it too and if I get something she wants it too and it's easier if we go together.

We don't have a Kohl's here but she has one there and they were having a sale. I've since discovered they're almost always having a sale but whatever. And they were giving Kohl's Cash which is a whole 'nother story!

I needed jeans. Yes, needed. Two reasons I guess. Number One reason is that I go to a contemporary worship service and everyone but me (not I'm not sixteen but it's true I promise, well not promise but really) was wearing dark, dark jeans. They looked new. My Levis are just that - Levis. Faded, not new. Faded because I bought them that way and faded because they've been worn for ten years or more. And Number Two Reason (which might really be the Number One Reason) in the last ten years my body has stretched and my jeans didn't.

I found the perfect jeans for me! Dark, dark denim, on sale, and just like my body, they stretched! How cool is that! They are just a tad long but with a few washings that will self-correct. They have a tiny bit of spandex in them and while I hate, hate, hate spandex in blouses, I love, love, love spandex in the waistband! So I bought them in every color they had. Denim, black, brown and khaki. Do you do that? Find something you love and buy it in every color? Or is it just me? Because I then found a short sleeved casual sweater and bought it in three colors. Perfect for the church because sometimes the air conditioning in church is rediculous.

Oh and that Kohl's Cash? It has a date on it. It's not like real money. You can't save it for later. You have to spend it right away! Which meant that I had to drive 30 miles to the nearest Kohl's store after I got home and get rid of it quick. Which I did. As the younger generation might say, I "scored" two sets of designer towels (made from bamboo I might add) for only a couple of dollars of my cash and lots of Kohl's cash. It made my heart skip a beat, really it did.

Now that is my kind of shopping...find what you like and looks great...then get every color. Plus getting them on sale!

Enjoy the week!

Good Morning America said dark jeans are what we should be wearing now. (I found a pair at TJ Maxx.
And you were here and we didn't run into each other!

I know exactly what you mean. When I find something, I get more, because #1, I hate shopping for clothes (not finding the right sizes for this short, plump, and not pleasantly, body)is just NOT fun for me.

As for shortening jeans, check this out!

I actually shortened two pair of jeans on Friday, and I could not believe how wonderfully easy and pain free it was. I need to email her and thank her again, and again.

Be blessed, my sweet friend,
Michelle

We don't have a Kohls here either, but they do have an online web site. I get updates every week. I'm one of those people who LOVES to purchase something online and have it delivered (especially when there is free shipping) right to my front door like a surprise gift. What ends up happening is I'll purchase something so perfect and then wish I had, like you said, one in every color. Most of the time, by the time I got back, they are gone or out of my size. -Megan-

Kohl's is about my favorite place to shop for clothes for both of us. And if you get on their mailing list, you get coupons. Plus it is just a short drive away, maybe 5 miles or less.
Yes, I do buy the same item in multiple colors, especially shoes because if I find a comfortable pair, I want to wear them for years.
You didn't say what brand jeans you purchased. We like the Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans and I have them in several colors. My daughter likes them because they come in Tall and don't cost any more. She buys the casual colors to work in.
Sounds like you and your sister enjoy being together.

Wow, great shopping trip! I try to buy several of something I love if it is on sale, too. And, I love Kohls, but you are right~there is ALWAYS a sale at Kohls!

My experience would be a bit like Meggie's: I just buy one of the available colours then when I get it home find it looks lovely and the other colours have gone by the time I get back! Also, have you ever noticed that if anywhere has a Sale on you can be sure nothing is in your size? Just super-big or ultra-small. If it's household equipment you're after it will be in some 'acquired taste' colour like shocking pink or turquoise! For sure!!!

I might just buy a shocking pink laptop computer though so I can always find it.

love, Angie xx

I've been known to buy in multiple colors too. If you like it why not?
Congrats on your Kohl's score!

I had better get over to Kohls...there are three of them near me...sorry that I can't send you one. I need some jeans that stretch...because unfortunately I just keep stretching even though I go to Curves 3 times a week.

I'm glad that you had a fun and successful shopping trip with your sister.

I do that too - always looking for the right pair of jeans and when I find one that fits right I get it and sometimes 2 or 3 of the same one.
touch of spandex is always nice in jeans.
