Granny's Quilt


Do you read Valerie's blog about Granny? Valerie's Granny will have a birthday October 24 - she will be 96 years old! Granny makes one quilt a week. You heard me, one quilt a week. Recently I bought one of Granny's quilts and when I got home from vacation it was waiting for me. It is perfect. Perfectly perfect. Oh I don't mean perfect stitches, or perfect seams, or perfectly square. It is perfect for snuggling under on a rainy, dreary day. It's perfect for wrapping up a grandchild who's spending the night. It's perfect for making a house when draped over a chair and an end table. It's perfect for winding around and around a doll. It's perfect for covering up in the car when the air conditioner is on full blast. It's perfect for laying on the carpet and putting a baby down for his nap.
God has touched Granny's heart, and her hands, and her life. He as made her an artist. He has given her the gift of perfect quilts.

    Yes, I do read Val's blog. Granny is certainly the star - no, she does not know it...but God knows her and most of all she knows God.
    Val is such a sweet granddaugher to share us with her wonderful grandmother.

    I am sure Granny's quilt is everything you wrote about.

    I am so glad you mentioned Granny! How wonderful to watch that video. My nany lived until 96 and watching Granny reminded me of her. It warmed my heart!!

    I really like your choice of Granny's quilts! Granny is a very special lady, and no, she does not know she is a star! She has never had a computer and would not know what to do with one, but she sure can operate that sewing machine!

    I love reading Valerie's blog, especially when she writes about Granny. I love that Valerie has made a few videos. That is so awesome when you can attach a voice and motions to a picture. I envy Granny's motivation and how she lives her life for the Lord. I know He is smiling down on her, and Valerie.

    The quilt looks comfy, and don't forget, you were a blessing the Granny!

    I hope your granddaughter is feeling much better. I am a big fan of toaster strudel too, especially the boston cream, but I don't put the chocolate on top, I like mine plain, which pleases my daughter to no end as she get the chocolate. Granny's quilt is very special when you know the hands that made it. Kind of like that cross, don't you think, its all the more special as we know the Father's hands that crafted it.

    Thanks for stopping by Marlene. It's good to hear from you. I've been perusing Granny's quilts on the website you linked us to. What a gracious, lovely woman; what a gift she's leaving to her world. I just might have to get one. My favorite personal quilt is one that my grandmother made me, just prior to her death in 1974. Around here, we call it grandma's quilt, and I'm usually the only one who gets to make use of it. It's showing some wear and tear after all these years. I want to preserve it for as long as I can.
