Don't let the difficulties of the present moments overshadow the reality of God's promises. God's promises still stand. And God's promises are stronger than our failures.

Winter and Spring

I just love working with wool! I bought this beautiful caramel colored wool from Primitive Gatherings a couple of weeks and could hardly wait to do something with it. And I had just a scrap of this red from something I bought at Goodwill and cut up, washed and dried to "felt" it. This table mat isn't fancy but it's a nice addition to my Valentine decorations. But I think it looks as if it needs something else....got any ideas for something to add? My violets must think it's spring. Man are they mistaken - we got another inch of snow last night. Snow is rare in Arkansas and this is twice in one week so we don't know what to think! These two first ones sit in my kitchen window. This very pale lavender one tries to hide it's blooms with leaves that reach toward the sun.

But this deep pueple one isn't a bit shy at all. :)
I have three smaller ones sitting in my bedroom window. Yes, that's batting you see stuffed under the window. I was afraid they would have a draft there so it's protecting them from the cold air that might seep in. The pot on the left has bloomed over and over and over for the last three years. The small violet to it's right I started from a leaf. It hasn't bloomed yet - it's just a baby.

This little pink violet doesn't bloom as often as the others and I think she's sick. Her blooms are beautiful but her leaves, even though they are staying green, are dropping off around the bottom. Anybody know what might be going on with her...I need a diagnose and a cure!

Your Violets are so pretty. My daughter's piano teacher from years ago always had so many and so many different colors.

I like your Valentine placemat, the only thing to perk it up would be a dozen roses sitting on top! LOL

Have a great weekend.

I don't have much luck growing indoor plants but I love African Violets. Maybe I'll go buy one and try again...

Your violets look so pretty and cheerful on your windowsills. I don't have anything blooming, yet, though my jonquils are peeking through.

I'm wondering if we are finished with snow, yet~I have a feeling we are not.

Stay warm!

I love violets but do not do well with them. I think my wrap around porch is the problem.

I thing a piggy would look nice in the middle of your mat.

I can never keep violets going for long. My SiL has the knack but don't ask me what that is. She has lots of violets of all colours, including white but to all intents and purposes shenonly does the same as me! Aren't th deep purples gorgeous?

What about a small cotton doilie in the center?

Lovin your violets. My dad had a real knack for african violets. We had them everywhere around the house while I was growing up.

I love your valentine mat. If you know how to do cutwork, I think that would make it look so lacy, like those pretty paper valentine hearts.

Gosh, your violets are georgous.

I was just talking with DD2 about getting me some African Violets.. I love them and they are so pretty.. About fasting: I have not but have thought on it many times.. Recently my 2 GD did a fast and did fair.. Lasting about 3 days.. I think you really have to be devoted to get the job done, maybe just determined.
