Don't let the difficulties of the present moments overshadow the reality of God's promises. God's promises still stand. And God's promises are stronger than our failures.

UFO #6 and A Sneak Peek

UFO # 6 out of 32 is finished.  :)  Yes, I said 32.  That I counted.  I refused to count any more after that ... I was tired.
This came originally from a kit I bought...somewhere....some time.  I can't remember where or when and that means it must have been a very long time ago.  Or last week.  Anyway I think I changed the background fabric but truth be told I had this cut out so long that I'm not even sure about that.  :)  Doesn't matter - I loved it, bought it, put it on the back of the shelf and forgot it.  While organizing and cleaning I rediscovered it and loved it again. I figure if you love something twice it must be a keeper.  And for the very first time while free motion quilting I stopped, stood up and did a happy dance.  Spilled my tea but danced on.  I finally "felt" the rhythm.  I knew every single time I got off the rhythm.  :(  But at least I knew when I did it!  That doesn't mean all those stitches are even or even exactly where I wanted them to be but it does mean that I'm gettin' there.  And you can't see it in this picture but I added some blue crystals to some of the stars and they glitter when the light catches them.  :)

If you read an earlier post I said that I had promised myself for every UFO I finish this year I get to make one new thing.  So of course, I've started my one new thing.  Here's a sneak peek.

The fabrics are Moda Maison de Garance and I love them!  I made my quilt wrap that I showed you here from that same line.  I think this one will be pretty fast, which is a good thing because I'm supposed to be working on a mug rug (Hi Jane!) and have lots of ideas rolling around my head for that but can't choose.  :)

I have this very same fabric from Moda!!!! I have made 2 items and am planning another one..*wink* wink* but had forgotten that you also loved this fabric!!! Are we twins separated at birth or what??? I saw a jelly roll of this fabric in a sewing shop last week and almost bought it but told myself I needed to use up the one I had before buying more.
I just can't decide between two designs for your mug rug.... I want it to be special. I should warn you that I'm not an expert seamstress...but it will be stitched with lots of character and in the name of friendship!
Blessings
Jane

It takes me a couple of beers to feel the rhythm but when you are in sinc you know it. I also worked on a UFO today. Tomorrow I just have to sew one seam and put the borders on. I wonder why I didn't just finish it in the first place.

I really love that Santa and his sleigh. Isn't it a great feeling to get in the groove with the free motion? It was worth the spilled tea.

Dancin' hey? That's a new way to celebrate gettin' the hang of FMQing! Guess I might try it sometime too. Experts DO say to get up from quilting every once in a while to release tension. You go groovin'-girl!

Yea! Good for you. FMQ is still a bugaboo for me..maybe because I can't get the courage to start. A clever idea-allowing yourself a new start for every finish.

You are so smart to be getting your UFOs sorted...I should do that...I don't have 32 but I do start things and sometimes not finish them...I sandwiched 2 smaller quilts last January and they are just like that with no quilting done on them..why do we do that?
I've not done any free motion quilting although my machine would if I just helped it along...everyone else's looks so good, I'm sure mine would be a mess.

I like the idea of a pay back for a completion. I'll have to see how that would work for me.

Thanks for the visit to my blog, Marlene, and for leaving a comment. I've very much enjoyed looking at several of your previous posts; I am absolutely in awe of your beautiful quilts! And, I love the mug rugs and drainer mats! My youngest daughter, a retired military gal who lives in Nebraska, started quilting last fall, and has fallen in love with the whole process. I'm sending her the link to your blog. She will be inspired, I know, by your lovely creations. - Pat

P.S. I loved your 1,000 blessings posts.

Why could I not remember the name of that fabric when I was blogging?? I even commented on your blog about it? My memory skills are getting worse...I need to dig out my crossword puzzles, they're supposed to be good for the brain.
Yes, please send me the cake recipe. About 8 yrs. ago, I lost 55 lbs and felt SOOOO good. I was down to a size 10 and felt good about myself. Then my mother' Alzheimer's got worse, she had to move into my home and within 2 yrs. I gained it all back. That was 2005 and I'm ready to get it off AGAIN!! WW is the only diet I will stay on but I have to satisfy my sweet tooth or I'll fall off the wagon...so send me any good dessert recipes or other tips. I have all the books but the points plus is a new twist. Both my daughters started this week. I'm starting next week and this time I'm doing a combo of online and meetings held at my church.

I happened to notice one of your favorite movies, Same Time Next Year is also one of my top all time favorites! Lots of folks have never heard of it but I LOVE LOVE that movie!

Love
Jane

You are right, if you loved it twice it is definitely worth it and from my view...it is just wonderful.
