It's Fall Ya'll!

We've finally had some cool nights here and we haven't had the air conditioner on for a couple of weeks - yippee!  I'm bringing out a few of my fall decorations, including this tea towel I like to hang on my stove.
But the darn thing fell on the floor every time I opened the oven door, or even if I brushed up against it while cooking.  I hear you out there - she said she doesn't cook - na, na, na, sometimes I do.  Not often, grant you, but you should see my husband and me, we aren't starving.  :)  So clever me, I did this:
Can't see it?  You aren't supposed to!  I sewed a narrow black ribbon on each side, well really 4 ribbons counting the back part, and tied them together.  Since they're black, and the stove is black, they disappear! Disappearing ribbons - maybe I'm a witch and didn't know it.  :)  Anyway it never falls off now!

This is one of my very favorite wall hangings:
It's a Country Threads pattern that I made several years ago.  My husband hates hanging it but if it said DEER HUNTING I bet he wouldn't mind at all.  :)  Just kidding - he doesn't mind hanging things for me but he would like it a lot better if I didn't want them up near the ceiling!
Ar you just drooling over this wool piece?  You better not drool on it!  Lots of little pieces hand appliqued but really easy to do and gorgeous colors....this picture was taken on the floor at the mission where we work in the summer so that means I finished it while I was there.  I should take another of it on my table but this one will have special memories for me so I think I'll keep it.  This is a Primitive Gatherings pattern.

And last for today is this one:
I finished this last year and love it so much it's hanging in my dining room.  Yep, dining room.  Hand embroidery is so soothing, especially when it's simple things like this.  I'd tell you who made the pattern but I loaned it to a friend last week and can't remember.
And for those of you who have made it all the way to the end of this I hand embroidered this snowman in a sunflower patch a few months ago when I thought it was going into a month by month quilt.  I'm not going to do that so he's getting lonely hanging up on my design wall - anyone want him?  Just leave me a comment and I'll send him your way.  If more than one person wants him I'll throw your names in a hat and draw one out.

Update:  Rhonda from Cobblestone Quilting won the snowman - congratulations!

nice decorations. I will be home next week and will begin to enjoy fall at home then - although it has been fall at some of the places we have been recently.

I love your quilts, Marlene! They are just beautiful, and your love and sense of fun shine through each of them. Treasures. :-)

(As for Mr. Snowman, you should give him to someone who won't be seeing the frozen white ones on a regular basis sooner than later. ;-) )

Oh, loving your autumn decorations! In fact, the one that says "Autumn" is my fav! I can't decide if the snowman would be happy here in SC or not...he wouldn't see many others, but he'd be warm and toasty much of the time! LOL

Oh, all your decoartions are wonderful! Love the towel idea, I so need to do that as mine comes off all the time too! Thanks for the hint!

Your decorations are great and wonderful idea to keep the towel on the stove handle. I have the same problem but never thought it doing that. You're a genius! Oh, and please include me in your name pile for Mr. Snowflower. :)

I love all of your beautiful work. I need to get busy and be creative again. I haven't picked up a needle since the accident. The only sewing I've done was those 2 patriotic pillow cases I made and sent to your friend in July.

Your home looks so pretty. I need to get my fall decorations out. Everything seems like a big job to me. I just need to follow your example and get busy.

Have a great week. Hugs, Lura

I would LOVE your little snowman in the sunflower patch!! I'll put a sashing around it and hang it up. The idea for the tea towel on the stove is so clever. I have the same problem with one that I simply took it off. I wasn't clever like you.
BTW, Mr. Postman is winging a late Birthday present to you once I get him to the P.O. in the next couple of days. The P.O is so out of my way that I find myself on the way home from errand running and realize I've forgotten to go to the P.O. I don't trust putting a package in my box to mail, we have too many mailbox vandals out here in the country.
Love all your autumn yumminess. The wool beauty is very very pretty. I know you're proud of that one!
Blessings
Jane

Love all your fall things! I know what you mean about towels on the stove handle--they fall off of mine, too--but it's such a handy place to keep them!

That rug is so pretty-the colors against the black are just perfect.

I love how you have pulled Fall into your home. Makes my few orange gourds look puny.
Sadly, I'll have to bow out of the drawing. I have a tiny house with no available wall space. Sigh.

Wow, you certainly are ready for a bit of fall. I have seen pictures of lovely fall colors on other blogs but the only bit we have here is a hint of red in the dogwood leaves (which are mostly brown from the summer heat).
Your snowman looks a bit lonely standing among the sunflowers. He would certainly make a nice little hanging for a crowded little house.

You need to update your profile. I know. I was present at your birth. (I was only 2 months old, y'all. But Ma says I was there.)

Sunflowers and snowmen...two of my favorite things...but I would have never thought of them in the same block...I love it. Throw my name in the pot. I have been following your blog every since I found out you come to my home every summer...Louisiana...thank goodness we don't get that many snowmen...so I have to collect fake ones. Everything looks beautiful at your house. Thanks for sharing.
