Don't let the difficulties of the present moments overshadow the reality of God's promises. God's promises still stand. And God's promises are stronger than our failures.

My Heart Sings

Since I gave you a few things yesterday that sort of make me angry, just a little angry because you know I'm so sweet and mild mannered and easy going (quit laughing and get up off the floor!) I thought I'd also share with you what makes my heart sing. Just my heart, not my mouth because if it was my mouth it would hurt your ears. But not God's ears because my songs magically morph into opera quality melodies before they reach Heaven. I know they do because He told me in His book. I digress.

This made my heart sing: One night this week my telephone rang as I was sitting and stitching and watching television. When I answered this sweet little voice said, "Hi Grandma!" My seven year old granddaughter was on the other end and even though I couldn't see her I could hear her jumping up and down with excitement. I said, "Hi sweetheart, what are you doing?" Her quick reply, "Grandma, I can say all the books of the New Testament without looking!" Oh my goodness, be still my heart. "Oh I'd love to hear you do that!" And she did. Right straight through with no hesitation and no faltering. Naturally I praised her and asked her if her mother, my sweet daughter-in-law had been helping her practice. She said, "No, my Daddy helped me." Did you hear that? Her Daddy. My son. Helped her learn the books of The New Testament. Is there any mother/grandmother out there who wouldn't have smiled for hours after that? The next day I sent her a congratulations card (yes with a little money tucked inside) to remind her how special I thought that was.

Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

What a wonderful family story...I know your heart is so proud with pride.

My singing matches yours...last night during song service I thought how off key it sounded..but I thought God enjoys it - so I just kept on.

One thing that makes my heart sing is enjoying the flowers - whether they are ones I have grown or just the ones along the road side.

This is a thankful Thursday - but then again every day should be.

This is a perfect example of how important it is to be as good of a parent as possible. The fact that she is reciting the books of the bible is such a grace. You are so blessed. Your hard work paid off for your son to do so well. Good Job!

How sweet to get that kind of call from her. I also enjoyed your post about what makes you angry. I don't know if I can do a post like that because once I got started it would be hard to stop! lol!

Hi Marlene, my singing is up there with yours.
Oh, that phone call is enough to jump with joy. I'm so glad my daughter and son-n-law are raising are grandbabies in the church and they are growing up little Christians. What a great way to start the day.
Hugs,
Bonnie

That is so great. It makes my heart sing too. Congrats on raising a good son who is following along by raising his daughter properly.

I didn't comment on the "what makes you want to break glass" post but I had one of those incidents this morning. All my fault of course. I sewed in a strap on a project. I sewed it VERY securely and did such a nice job. ARRRRGGGGH - then I saw that I had it backwards. I had to rip out all of those tiny stitches.

Now it is done and the project complete. My heart is singing again.

This is such a SWEET post -- I think that shows the investment you have put into your son's life has really paid off!!!

Thank you for blessing my day with this snippet of your granddaughter.

That is so cool she learned her books! And such a nice grandma to send the card and a little something!
I just found out that our 10 year old granddaughter read about malaria in a National Geographic story and she couldn't believe how awful it is in Africa with children dying and the need for mosquito nets for the beds. She talked to her teacher about it and now they are doing a silent auction fundraiser in her class to buy mosquito nets..I have been 'warned' she is going to contact grandma and grandpa (us) about this...I love her little heart and will be happy to help out with such a worthy cause!
Blessings,
Kelly

That is just precious and yes, your heart has a right to sing. My grandchildren can just spark something in me that no one else can. There is nothing so special as a phone call from a grandbaby.

... money in the card... my son has gotten into the habit of shaking the card from Grandma even before he opens it... hoping for loose bills!

This is absolutely beautiful. I'd be singing too...even dancing!

I pray that one day my son will be that kind of father - one who teaches and leads his little ones to his heavenly Father.

Blessings,
Joy
