Don't let the difficulties of the present moments overshadow the reality of God's promises. God's promises still stand. And God's promises are stronger than our failures.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

Recently Jenny of Elefantz posted a free pattern that I just fell in love with.  And since she is really into recycling I stitched mine on an antique linen napkin which has a few teensy, tiny holes that are almost invisible.  I think they have just worn out from use or perhaps too much bleach.  Anyway, I love the way it turned out.

I added a little ruffle and I think it really sets off the sparrow.

I have no idea what I want to do with this piece but for now it's hanging on my stove and reminds me every day of His love.

Such sweet details - and so fast to stitch!

A Ruffled Kind of Day

When Madame Samm first mentioned this Ruffles Blog Hop I thought I'd just skip this one.  But it nagged at me.  You know what I mean - when something just keeps saying "you ought to do this"?  So I thought to myself, " can surely think of something to do!"  A pep talk - do you ever do that?  Anyway I started in my kitchen and got kind of carried away.  First I remembered the rubber gloves Madame Samm showed on her blog and knew my sister, the rubber glove queen of America (she never, never, never washes a dish without them) would love them so that's what I did first.

Well, I thought, if you can do that you can surely do one more thing.  I didn't need gloves because, honestly, I mostly use the dishwasher.  But sometimes I do wash things by hand, like maybe a wine glass...or two.  And when I do I like to let them air dry in my drainer.  So I made a pretty dish drainer cloth (what a wonderfully creative name) which also doubles as a toaster cover when it's not being drained on!

And since I had a little fabric left I ruffled up my healthy snack jars.  Yes they are healthy - walnuts and sunflower seeds.  Protein.  I think.

Do self ruffled things count in this hop?  I feel sure they do.  :)  I love embroidery and wanted some new pillowcases for a couple of pillows in my bedroom.  Thank goodness I finished them just in time!

Can you see my Southern Belle peeking out on both sides of the floral shams?  Here's a close up of her.
And a side view so you can see how she looks when I enter the room.

Whew!  Who knew I could do so many ruffled things?  But I really, really needed to make a baby gift so here's my last ruffle for a while....a sweet little burp pad.

The pattern called for button eyes but I just couldn't bring myself to do that - I remember my babies chewing on their burp pads!

I only had flat lace in my stash so I just ruffled it myself!

And my goal is accomplished - I made something ruffled.  Or a few somethings.  I hope you enjoyed them!  Please check out the rest of our bloggers today because you're sure to see some wonderful things:

I Have A Friend

I have a friend who loves to embroider (Hi Sandy!) but she doesn't really sew so sometimes she embroiders for me and then I do the finishing.  What a great deal.  :)  Recently she did this embroidery:

It was one of those really big cotton tea towels and all I had to do was to trim it up and stitch the hem.  Isn't it gorgeous?
