Another One Bit The Dust!

Another UFO - done! This cute Little Bear wallhanging is one I made several months ago but couldn't decide how to quilt. I finally did a 1" crosshatching in the center and free motion stippling in the borders. I've already told you about my free motion stippling - more very pointed mountain peaks than jigsaw puzzle-like pieces but I actually could see myself making progress on this. I think if I was using a contrasting thread that I could actually see instead of navy thread on navy background I might have done a little better. The lighting in my sewing room is just not keeping pace with my aging eyes. I do have an Ott light in there but it's one that stands on the floor and can't be adjusted very well so my next purchase is probably going to be another smaller Ott light. I have one that I keep on my ironing table and that I use as my light when I'm tracing redwork patterns, and another that I keep beside my chair when I'm doing handwork. If the plugs were any easier to get to I'd just move one of those when I need it but electric outlets are few and far between in this house and are all behind furniture or boxes of fabric. I'll be watching for a coupon from Hobby Lobby! Does anyone out there know of a light that's cheaper but just as good as an Ott light?

I don't know about the light, I just wanted to say that quilt is adorable.

I had an ott light, and it didn't live very long. It was not a good light for me. I have since bought another light which looks just like it from Menards for not much money at all, and a couple of table top lights from the same style. I like them all just as well as the Ott light.

I bought a cheaper brand replacement bulb for my otto floor light - BUT it did not any where as long as the original otto bulb so went back to the otto for the replacement.

Love your bear quilt...darling.

I've never had an Ott light. I have several task lights in my sewing studio...one at each of my sewing machines, one where I iron and one where I cut.

I bought them at Ikea...they were very reasonably priced.

I'm going to keep an eye on the comments here...because my eyes are not what they used to be, either.

Again, adorable bear quilt.

Hugs

I went the el cheapo route once I realized I couldn't cross stitch without a more direct light. I got a $12 cheapy floor lamp from Wal-Mart and it has a little reading extension on it that is bendable and you can beam the light right on your project. Never had an OTT, so I can't compare, but this is working so far! I figured I would try it out for $12 bucks before I invested in the Ott, and if it stunk, I was only out $12 bucks!

I can see this quilt being spread out on the floor for a baby to play on with a few toys! It's adorable.

Love the little quilt.
As for the Ott light I purchsed one for my Mom with the 40% off courpon from Hobby Lobby, she ended up not liking it and gave it to me. I ended up not liking it and took it back. I bought a standard floor lamp, and love it. The light is different than the CFL.
Happy Sewing.

I love this bear wallhanging. He's so cute looking up at the star. I don't know of any lights as good or cheaper than Otts.

Great quilt. Love the snowflake border fabric.
Have you tried the new light bulbs. I found some "craft" bulbs at Lowes hardware store that work in a regular lamp.

Thank you for your blog support, friendship and prayers for both me and Lynell. I really appreciate them. She is better today but not well. How I wish that I were there with her. Thanks again for your concern and prayers. Hugs, Lura
