Don't let the difficulties of the present moments overshadow the reality of God's promises. God's promises still stand. And God's promises are stronger than our failures.

Somebody Please Tell Me You've Done This Before!

Boiled all the water out...every last drop.  Eggs burst, some with shells browned.  Hmmmm, now what?

It is a family trait. Now the challenge is to create a really spicy egg salad to hide the burned egg taste. If they were destined for another purpose, you may have a problem

I've never done it to eggs, but I have to green beans. Completly ruined my stainless steel pan too!

Oh, my husband does that all the time. At least at our house, it is only two eggs at a time.

Oh yeah! I blame my stove. The timer isn't loud enough to hear ony sewing room.

They are not any good to eat, either. I will not confess how I know this...but it had something to do with sewing in the basement, with an upstairs kitchen....

Sorry Marlene, but you may just have to toss them out. :-(

and this is why I don't boil my eggs. I put them into cold water..turn on the heat. When they start a rolling boil..do this in order..

1. put lid on
2. remove from heat
3. turn off stove
4. wait 10 minutes. DON'T PEEK!!
They always turn out perfect..

I hard cook eggs in my electric steamer instead of boiling them and they come out perfect every time! I only managed to crack an egg a couple of times:-)

I don't boil eggs. I have a couple electric egg cookers. I can either cook in the shell, or poach. I use the cookers all the time. You stand up your eggs, poke a hole in the end of each one, pour on measured water, turn to cook and when they are done, a buzzer goes off. Perfect eggs every time!

Errr, umm, not with eggs, but with potatoes. Where you quilting too?

I am sure that this has happened many times before. Don't feel badly.... you just have too much to do.

Have a good week. Don't work too hard. Hugs, Lura

No me - but my brother's mother-in-law! She and my mom were gabbing away and they heard boom, boom, boom as the eggs exploded and hit the ceiling and every surface in the kitchen! Talk about a mess!! I say toss the eggs or let the critters eat them!

So glad nothing worse happened. A friend of mine did that with her tea kettle. It melted the tea kettle and the house was full of smoke.

This can also happen with green beans, potatoes, and green tea. Don't ask how I know this, just nod and smile. LOL
It is usually because I am in the basement in the vicinity of my fabric/machine, etc and the kitchen is up the stairs!!

Not yet, but I have boiled all the water out of a pot to make hummingbird nectar.
I get on the computer and just forget.

Oh yes, I have! Smells icky, too! And I've done the same to potatoes. Oh! and while writing this, I had been boiling some eggs, too! (so I thought, anyway) I just looked up and saw that I had turned on the wrong burner and the pot handle was baking. Phew! Reading your post may have prevented a kitchen fire. I definitely get the "Clumsy Cook" label today!

I did it once with about 8 lbs. of chicken breasts! I completely forgot until the smoke alarms went off! Phew! They really smelled up the house, too! My granddaughter was staying with me then (she was 4 1/2 at the time). It horrified her that Nana would burn the chicken! She talked about it for a couple of years!

Yes. Does that help?

The other day I used my vegetable steamer and totally forgot to put any water in at all. My husband couldn't believe it. I'm thankful my stainless pot wasn't ruined.

I have totally done that Marlene. It was many many years ago. I was upstairs and the kitchen was down, and all the sudden I heard these massive popping sounds. Thank you for making me laugh! ;-)

Oh Marlene...I'm sorry about your eggs. Now I know to be on extra alert tonight. I need to make deviled eggs to take to work tomorrow. BTW reading everyone else's comments made me laugh tonight. It is nice to know we all make mistakes in the kitchen once in a while.

Unfortunately, yes, I have done this. I have to say I thought I was the only person in the world to burn boiled egg. I thought I was going to have to rebuild to get the smell out. I didn't know they were burned until I heard this loud pop and I knew I was in trouble. Sooooo join the burned boiled egg club (BBEC). Hey I like that! Have a great day, dear one! HUGS

I can actually smell those eggs from here! Phew!! I am the world's worst to let my water boil out of most everything I cook because I'm always multitasking. It is one of Roger's pet peeves when it happens...he just knows I'm going to burn down the house one day. Living with me is like living in an episode of I Love Lucy!

Now what? Now you are grateful that the lid was not on the pot and that the eggs did not explode with lid breaking window and egg gunk every where.... oh and don't put the pot by the garbage as someone will think it trash and gone it is.... ask me how I know...
