Christmas Stitching

Like most of you I've been spending as much time as possible in my sewing room doing some stitching for Christmas presents. I bought sewing machines for three of my granddaughters so, of course, they need a few things to go with the machines. First I made sewing machine covers...simple rectangles with some rick rack added.

Then I made a trifold sewing kit using one I had gotten as a gift from a friend as my pattern.

I'm wondering...what would you put in these sewing kits? So far I've gotten a tape measure, seam ripper, seam gauge, bobbins and pins. I think I need some hand and machine needles and some thread...what am I leaving out?

A sweet sewing package for your granddaughters. I agree, you need to add some scissors - I love those little shaped ones: butterfly, bird, bear, ballerina, fairy

Lucky girls. I had to wait for my wedding to get a machine. Now I need a place large enough to put it ... and probably a tune up after 50 years ... well, maybe more, as it was not new when I got it.

Beautiful sewing kits Marlene!! Your granddaughters will be thrilled!! .... might I suggest sewing snips, if not the suggested scissors above? Something simple to sit beside the machine.... Bless you, dear Lady!

How fun. I am sure they will love them. Maybe a marking pencil of some kind would be a good addition. When I taught my girls to sew I bought both of them the Simplicity Learn to Sew book. I still use mine occasionally even after all these years.

I might be too late to be of value here, but I'd include a 1" X 6" lucite ruler. I can't tell you how often I use the two I have. In any case, you're a wonderful grandmother to have come of with these thoughtful gifts. Your grandies will love them!
