Don't let the difficulties of the present moments overshadow the reality of God's promises. God's promises still stand. And God's promises are stronger than our failures.

Outside My Door

We got to Estes Park, Colorado about 1:00 this afternoon. We're in an RV Park near one of the gates to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We've parked in this resort several times over the years and really like the people as well as the amenities. This is the first time I've had real internet access (except on my Blackberry) in over a week! The view outside my door is this one - you can just barely make out the snow on the mountain peaks. By tomorrow night that might be a lot plainer since they're predicting 6-12" of snow here tonight! No telling how much they will get even higher up. :) Thank goodness by Saturday the high will be in the sixties. While I'm excited about the snow I don't want to be stuck here! This resort closes on the 30th of this month so we have to be out of here by then.
Do you think we ever outgrow our child-like excitement over the first snow of the season? I hope not.

I love Estes Park, although we haven't spent a lot of time there recently. Have fun in the snow! And I hope it's melted in about two hours! What do you plan to see around there? Enjoy!

By golly, you are close by! I am down at the base of the mountains in Loveland. Enjoy your time up in the high country and watch/listen for the bugling elk.

Envy may be a sin but I feel envious that you're there in your RV and I'm no longer RV-ing. We sold ours when we bought the KY house. I miss those times so much, traveling with our little trailer behind us were some of my happiest times. Oh, and I too love that first snow thing. I will try to see these things in my mind's eye. XO

I'm glad that where I live the first snow is usually in November. I loved when I taught second grade and those first flakes started falling during school. Then we had wonder + joy x 25, and we couldn't possibly continue with business as usual. Now I'm not sure who loves those first flakes more, me or my kids. Hope you get your snow, AND get safely out of the mountains. Enjoy!!

Absolutely gorgeous! I love Estes Park and Rocky Mtn. Natl. Park. When I was young, we used to hike all over the trails. I never got altitude sickness either. Yesterday someone told me that it snowed in Steamboat Springs, big wet flakes. The ski resorts are probably gearing up for a good season. Like someone else said in a comment they left you, I am so envious. No,I am actually jealous -- but with a big smile. -Megan-

I am so enjoying all your pics from Colorado! I have an old high school friend who lives n Iowa and she goes to Estes every year and often their Christmas phhoto show's them at Estes but that is the extent of the view I have ever gotten to see. Your pictures are breath taking. I feel the same way when I visit the White Mountains in NH!!
